How The Ferrari 488 GTB Official Video Was Made: Video

Although a twin-turbocharged monster had been expected for some time, when Ferrari unveiled the 488 GTB it took most people by surprise. Some of the car’s sheer lunacy is evident in Ferrari’s official promotional video for the 488 GTB, which features track footage and on-road driving scenes. Ferrari seems to be so proud of that promotional footage that it recently uploaded a behind-the-scenes recording, which shows how much work was put into achieving the spectacular end-result.

Professionally controlled drones with GoPro cameras, Russian arms dangling from blacked-out, high-speed camera cars and a large number of crew members cooperated to create one of the coolest promotional videos from Ferrari, especially since it features very few CGI (Computer-Generated Images) for a 2015 product. The track footage was shot at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia, while the on-road driving scenes were filmed around Saragozza and Tortosa in Northern Spain.

As a reminder, the Ferrari 458 GTB is powered by a twin-turbocharged, 3.9-liter V-8 with 661 horsepower and 561 pound-feet of torque. The model’s name and some bits of its exterior design are a nod to Ferrari’s first mid-engine V-8 model, the 308 GTB, but the 488 GTB’s performance is very much from the future. With the 0-124 mph acceleration taking just 8.3 seconds and lapping the Fiorano track in 1:23 minutes, the 458 Italia replacement is even faster than the Enzo, which is no mean feat.
