Making them faster while drinking less fuel is becoming the newest fad in the supercar realm, as now we’re seeing near-900-horsepower cars with 67 mpg-e (918 Spyder) rolling down the road. This stratospheric realm, which is called the “hypercar” segment, looks to be getting another competitor, according to a report from Motor Trend. In this report, AMG CEO Tobia Moers all but confirmed that Mercedes-AMG is working on a 918 Spyder-fighting hypercar.
Though there no information on what may power this beast of a Benz, there is some speculating to be done. We already know what AMG’s new gasoline power source is, and we already know what it can do with in-wheel electric motors, so this should be fairly simple. Going by my speculation, our artist put together a rendering to show what he thinks the new Merc hypercar may look like.
