In January of this year, Ford began taking orders for the right-hand-drive versions of the 2016 Ford Mustang from customers in the U.K. Customers have a choice between the fastback and convertible versions. Available engines include the 2.3-liter, turbocharged Ecoboost that is good for 312 PS (312 horsepower,) or the 5.0-liter, V-8 that pushes 416 PS (410 horsepower.) The same engines are available in the U.S. but offer 310 horsepower and 435 horsepower, respectively. The 3.7-liter V-6 has yet to be offered on the European models, and only two transmissions are offered – the six-speed automatic with paddle controls or a six-speed manual.
European customers seem to have good taste; 80 percent of those who have ordered a Mustang have opted for the fastback body style. Furthermore, 70 percent have opted for the 5.0-liter, and 55 percent have chosen the six-speed manual transmission. Colorwise, Race Red (or as I like to call it “Pull Me Over Red”) is the No.1 choice, followed by Magnetic Silver and Shadow Black. Deep Impact Blue pulls 4th place in color selection, with Tripple yellow coming in last. More than 75 percent of purchasers have opted for Ebony Black interior. A Custom Pack is also offered on the Mustang, which has been ordered by more than 50 percent of customers so far. It includes navigation, heated and cooled seats, alloy wheels and a 12-speaker, Shaker Pro audio system. Four-cylinder models start out at £29,995, while V-8 models start off at £33,995. Both include a Thatcham Category One alarm system as standard equipment.
