2014 Maruti Swift launched at Rs 4.42 lakh

2014 Maruti Swift launched

Maruti has launched the updated Swift at a starting price of Rs 4.42 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. The Swift gets important tweaks to the engines making them considerably more efficient than before. The Swift petrol sees about 3PS drop in power, now at 84.25PS but fuel efficiency goes up to an ARAI certified figure of 20.4kmpl. That's almost a 10 percent improvement in fuel economy.

The Diesel Swift has the same 75PS of power but fuel efficiency has gone up to 25.2kmpl due to a remapped ECU and reduced friction. With both the engines tuned for better efficiency, the largest selling premium hatchback in the country is set to continue its sales run.

The Swift also gets a mild exterior and interior update. On the outside, the Swift gets a redesigned front bumper with larger air dams. Instead of the LED DRLs on the international Swift, the Indian version gets a silver accent for the fog lamp housings. There's also a new honeycomb grille and new design alloy wheels. Maruti will also offer three new paint shades andndash; violet, red and grey.

The Swift facelift is also better equipped now. The base variants get adjustable headrests, 60:40 split rear seats. The Base+ (LXi+) trim now gets remote locking and front power windows. The mid-spec variants get auto folding mirrors, an audio player. The diesel variant also gets ABS. Move to the top trim and the Swift was starting to feel a bit weak against its competition. With the update though, the Swift gets push button Start/Stop, Bluetooth connectivity and reverse parking sensors. The added features have marginally increased the new Swift's prices.
