Suzuki officially announced that it will be part of the 2015 MotoGP grid. Suzuki has been testing its prototype bikes for the past few months and it has taken this decision after the test results showcased positive improvements. Suzuki will christen its MotoGP motorcycle as GSX-RR. Apart from announcing its comeback in the premiere class, Suzuki also announced that it will be headed by team manager Davide Brivio and it would field Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales as its official riders for the 2015 season.
Suzuki also said that it will also make a wild card appearance in the final race of the 2014 season at the Gran Premio Generali de la Comunitat Valenciana. Suzuki will make a comeback into MotoGP after a gap of three years as in 2012 it had suspended its operations. Even though it was off the racing action, Suzuki claims that it has been developing the Suzuki GSX-RR from 2012 onwards to give technology feedback to production models such as the GSX-R range.
Powering the Suzuki GSX-RR MotoGP bike is an in-line four-cylinder engine that realizes a strong, flexible engine character, fuel efficiency, and durability at a high level. Also special attention was given to the bikes frame to improve handling dynamics along with aerodynamic performances and optimizing body strength. Suzuki will be the third Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer to race in the 2015 season of MotoGP apart from Honda and Yamaha whereas Kawasaki is focusing its attention in the world superbike series.
