Genesis, Hyundai’s newly launched luxury brand, has announced plans to unveil a new concept car at the upcoming New York International Auto Show. Dubbed "New York Concept", which might not be its actual name, the new show car was previewed by a design image and a teaser film depicting a sleek four-door sedan that sports a reinterpretation of Hyundai’s trademark trapezoidal front grille, as well as never-before-seen styling cues on the company’s products.
According to Genesis’ brief press release, the "New York Concept" previews "the design direction that will distinguish forthcoming Genesis products."
“The New York Concept is a progressive concept car that showcases the design quality of the brand. With its expressive volumes and refined design, the New York Concept truly embodies the athletic elegance, which characterizes Genesis products," said Manfred Fitzgerald, head of the Genesis brand.
There are no specifics such as dimensions or technical data to run by, but this concept is likely to preview the upcoming Genesis G70. Set to slot below the flagship G90 and the G80, and essentially a rebadged Hyundai Genesis, the G70 will be aimed at sporty, compact sedans such as the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
The new concept will be unveiled on March 23rd at the New York Auto Show, so make sure you stick around for updates and a full review.
