2016 GMC Yukon SLT Premium Edition

GMC is no stranger to building premium, full-size SUVs. The Denali trim found on the Yukon and Yukon XL accounts for a large percentage of Yukon sales, making it an immensely popular option for well-off families, premium limousine services, and high-end corporate shuttles. Well, GMC is introducing a new premium option package for the Yukon. It’s called the Premium Edition and it’s only available on the mid-range SLT trim level.

The special option package adds things like premium wheels, a new front grille design, and of course, more chrome. The package only dresses up the exterior, leaving the interior with the same standard equipment and options found on the SLT trim. That’s doesn’t mean anyone will mistake this Yukon for a bare-bones model by any means.

“The new Yukon SLT Premium Edition adds distinction and personalized style to the already well-appointed Yukon SLT model,” said Stu Pierce, senior marketing manager, GMC Trucks & Full-size SUVs. “For discerning customers seeking uncompromising capability and unparalleled refinement in a full-size SUV, Yukon SLT Premium Edition delivers with the latest in technologies, amenities and a unique and premium style.”

The Yukon SLT Premium Edition comes standard with the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V-8 that makes 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission does the shifting, while power is routed to either the rear wheels, or all four wheels when 4WD is optioned. And as any proper SUV should, the Yukon can tow a maximum of 8,500 pounds, while the Yukon XL’s tow rating drops only by 200 pounds.

GMC says the Premium Edition trim will become available at dealerships this summer.
