Aston Martin Files Trademark For "DBZ" In Europe

The season of trademark filings rages on as another automaker has made the news for trademarking a name that could give a hint on a potential new model. That automaker is Aston Martin and just recently, the British automaker applied to trademark the name “DBZ” in Europe, with the intention of using it on “passenger cars; racing cars; and bodies.”

The company didn’t confirm its plan for the name DBZ, but it does look like it’s going to be used on a new model that could join the Aston Martin lineup in the future. That would make sense because the company has gone on record saying that it plans to build a seven-model range that will include new versions of existing models (the 2017 Vantage and 2018 Vanquish), new models altogether (the DB11, Lagonda SUV, and DBX Crossover), and yet-to-be-determined models that we still know very little about.

Rumors say that a V-12 version of the Vantage and a V-8 DB11 are also in the cards. There’s also talk that a production version of the RapidE Concept is a possibility. Or it could be that Aston Martin still has a few more models under consideration, and one of them would be in line to receive the DBZ name if it’s launched to the public. There are a number of possibilities that can be tied into the company’s decision to trademark the DBZ name. Whether that’s going to have anything to do with a future model is still unclear, but given the brand’s recent focus on expanding its lineup, it’s very likely that Aston Martin filed this trademark with the intent to use it at some point in the future.
