India-bound 2016 Jaguar XF spotted testing

India-bound 2016 Jaguar XF spotted testing

Images of the 2016 Jaguar XF doing test rounds at Canary Islands in Morocco have surfaced on the web. The test mule was draped in a significant amount of camouflage while doing the tests in the country.

Although, the 2016 Jaguar XF hid itself under heavy guise, the images reveal that the forthcoming new car has grown in length when compared to the existing model, which will benefit the cabin space and rear legroom. The new XF will borrow its styling cues from the Jaguar XE and will be built on the lightweight iQ modular aluminium architecture on which the latter is based.

The 2016 XF will come equipped with the Ingenium range of engines which underpins the Jaguar XE. These four cylinder engines are manufactured at JLR's engine plant in Wolverhampton, and the British carmaker claims that these powerplants are flexible enough to return CO2 emissions below 100gm per kilometre as well as be tuned to give a high output. Reports suggest that a V6 supercharged petrol engine and a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine will also be on offer.

The current Jaguar XF is available with both petrol and diesel engine options in India. The 2.0-litre petrol unit churns out 241PS of power and 340Nm of torque, while the 2.2-litre oil burner delivers 190PS of power and 450Nm of torque, in combination with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The 2016 Jaguar XF will go on sale in the European market in late 2015. The car is expected to reach the Indian shores next year.
