If you’re into extreme toys, then you’re going to love this. Do you recognize the name Zapata Racing? Well if you don’t, I’m sure you remember all those videos that went viral of the hydro-powered flyboard. You know, the one that uses water to lift the board and its rider out of the water. The flyboard in that video eventually led to the creation of the Flyboard Pro Series, Flyboard Sport, the Hoverboard, and even a jetpack. Now, Zapata Racing is at it again.
With over three million views since its posting three weeks ago, the first test run for the all-new Flyboard Air has been drawing a lot of attention. What’s unique about this board, however, is that it doesn’t rely on water as part of the propulsion system. Instead, this thing uses air, and what it can do is absolutely amazing.
According to the information on the video, and the website, this thing has its own independent propulsion system that has been developed over the last four years. It can achieve autonomous flight up to an elevation of 10,000 feet, has a top speed of 93.2 mph and offers ten-minute autonomy. So in short, this thing is pretty much an airplane attached to your feet. The unit shown in the video is still in the prototype stage, and won’t be available this year, but it seems to work quite well.
