Audi A7

The Audi A7 is a relatively new vehicle, first gracing showrooms in the fall of 2010. The model has gone through several facelifts in the last six years, but it’s finally time for Audi to usher in a second generation. The model was updated for the 2017 model year to includes an array of new exterior paint options, new wheels, and some new interior features. Now, we’re getting our first look at the second-gen model and, despite seeing it from a distance, we can tell that it will be wider and more muscular than before. The overall exterior style should see changes, but we’re talking about Audi here, so don’t expect anything all that dramatic.

The biggest changes we expect are updated exterior lighting, another evolution of Audi’s singleframe grille design, and a few new body lines. Underpinned by the new MLB EVO platform, the new A7 should shed some significant weight and, even better yet, should give Audi the opportunity to bring some new drivetrains into the fold should it choose to do so. There’s no definite word on drivetrains as of yet, but we’re expecting to see options similar to those available in the upcoming Audi A8. We expect some diesel and gasoline engines, and a plug-in hybrid should show face within a year or two after the second-gen A7 hits the streets.

There is no definite timetable but, since we’re about to close down the third quarter of 2016, and the A7 was updated for 2017, the second-gen model will likely debut for the 2019 model year. We still have a while to wait before we see it in all of its glory, but let’s ease the wait a little bit and pick apart these spy shots.
