The second-generation Porsche Cayenne crossed the Pond to America for the 2011 model year, being offered here in many versions, including the GTS, Turbo S, and even a hybrid model. 2015 brought an updated second-gen model with significant exterior modifications, more powerful engines, and new technology. The facelift is supposed to keep the SUV fresh until a brand-new model arrives sometime in 2018.
Along with the 2015 update, rumors of a sleeker, coupe-like version of the Cayenne also started to surface the Interwebz. Although original reports claimed a 2015 launch, Porsche competitor for the BMW X6 failed to show up. With the 2017 model year already upon us, our trusty paparazzi spotted an awkward test mule that might just be the upcoming Cayenne coupe.
Not much is known about it at this point, but it’s expected to use the same underpinnings as the SUV, as well as the same drivetrains. The name is not yet official so you should take the "Cayenne Coupe" with a grain of salt, but this badge is very likely given that the sleek crossover will be part of the same family.
