2015 Harley-Davidson Freewheeler unveiled

2015 Harley-Davidson Freewheeler

Harley-Davidson unveiled their new trike for the 2015 season, christened the Freewheeler. It is the second trike offering under the Harley-Davidson portfolio after the Tri Glide Ultra Classic. While the Tri Glide was designed for touring, the new Freewheeler is more of a cruiser. Powering the Harley-Davidson Freewheeler is an air-cooled, Twin Cam 103 motor with a displacement of 1,690cc and churning out a meaty peak torque of 142Nm. The powerplant is mated to a Cruise Drive 6-speed gearbox with an electrically-selected reverse gear.

Harley has focused on improvising the hand operated controls, while the rider floorboards sport a heel-toe shifter alongwith foot-operate parking brakes. The 2015 Harley-Davidson Freewheeler also features air adjustable suspensions for better comfort. It also employs a slipper clutch while cruise control is standard. The bike runs on cast aluminium rims which apart from adding to the visual appeal also aids in reducing the weight. Braking is done via disc brakes at front and rear but ABS has been given a miss. At the rear, the trike has been equipped with a waterproof trunk that has a capacity of 56-litres and it can easily fit two full-sized helmets easily.

The 2015 Harley-Davidson Freewheeler will be offered in a standard shade of black, with other colour options available at an additional premium. At Rs 15.1 lakhs in the US market, the 2015 Harley-Davidson Freewheeler isn't the most affordable mid-sized trike in the international market but Harley aficionados wouldn't mind the extra premium.
