Anyone interested in getting their hands on Tesla’s universally acclaimed all-electric sports car will be happy to know that certified pre-owned Model S vehicles will be available for as low as $55,000. The used cars are available through Tesla’s website here, and serve American markets in Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland, Denver, Florida, Hawaii, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco/Bay Area, Seattle, and Washington DC.
The American automaker launched its CPO program on its website earlier this month, forgoing the usual round of high-profile Tesla fanfare. You can browse the selection of used Model S vehicles, refining for market area, color, and model. Available models include the 60 kWh, 85 kWh, and high-end P85.
At launch, the least-expensive model available was somewhere in the $65,000 range. Now, cheaper models are making their way online. The number of available CPO Model S’s is expected to increase substantially over the course of the second half of 2015, as the first round of cars see an end to their three-year leases. According to Autoguide, it appears as though future pre-owned vehicles will be added with a price floor set at $55,000.
Each CPO Model S undergoes a 200+ point inspection and is offered with a remaining battery and drive warranty, plus a four-year, 50,000-mile limited warranty. Each car comes with a CarFax history report in the U.S. and 24-hour roadside assistance throughout the warranty period. Each CPO vehicle requires a $1,000 deposit. All of the cars are available for pickup, but Telsa will ship it to your nearest service center for a fee of up to $1,500. Each car comes directly from the company, circumventing the need for a dealer.

Contrary to this latest batch of spy shots, Daimler’s Smart division is not working on an off-road version of the 2016 Smart Fortwo or a tow-capable version of the new Smart Forfour. Instead, the spy photographers came upon an unfortunate engineer who seems to have driven off the road and gotten stuck in the thick vegetation.
The circumstances behind the incident are unknown, but it wasn’t severe enough to cause the airbags to deploy. Fortunately, it would appear that the driver escaped uninjured (with the possible exception of a bruised ego) and it doesn’t look like the prototype suffered any major damage. The mishap did require a Smart Forfour to be dispatched as the cutest little recovery vehicle ever, although it isn’t clear if the 90-horsepower four-door city car had the guts to pull its smaller counterpart from the brush.
We just recently had our first look at the 2016 Smart Fortwo Cabriolet testing in Spain, and like this vehicle, it seems to be in production-ready form wearing almost no camouflage. This most likely means that the convertible Fortwo could debut soon, with the Frankfurt Motor Show being the best guess. With the 2016 Smart Fortwo Coupe going on sale in the U.S. this fall, the release of the Cabriolet probably won’t be too far behind.

The Volkswagen Golf lineup is set for realignment at the top end of the performance spectrum, with new eighth-generation fast Golfs on the way, including a 300-horsepower Golf GTI, 350-horsepower Golf R and a new Golf RS variant with 400 horsepower. The next GTI will retain front-wheel-drive, while all-wheel-drive will be saved for the R and RS. We’ll likely get a preview of this new hierarchy when a production version of the 400-horsepower Golf R400, based on the current Golf, debuts later this year.
According to Automobile Magazine, the eighth-generation Golf is expected to arrive in 2019 and will be an evolution of the current car. It will be built on Volkswagen’s new MQB architecture (internally called MQB evo), with improvements focused primarily on drivetrain and electronics. The next Golf should be lighter too, with the new GTI weighing between 50 and 100 pounds less than current one.
The GTI’s new engine will be more or less the same EA888 2.0-liter four-cylinder from the current Golf R and mated to either a six-speed manual or optional dual-clutch automatic transmission. Other options will include bigger brakes, adaptive dampers and an electronic limited-slip differential (which it definitely needed to manage all that power going to the front wheels).

AMG-prepped Mercedes-Benz cars have a long and storied history as pace cars. From the SLS AMG to the C63 AMG, among others, Affalterbach’s beefed-up cars have acted as pace-setters in extremely popular series the world over, such as Formula One and DTM. The SLS AMG alone paced Formula One for five consecutive seasons between 2010 and 2014. Quite an achievement!
With the flagship SLS AMG already discontinued, it’s the Mercedes-AMG GT’s turn to keep things under control when yellow flags are out. Having already been confirmed as the official Safety Car for the 2015 F1 season, the AMG GT will also step in to replace DTM’s previous pace car, the C63 AMG Black Series, at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz on May 29th to 31st, during the second round of this year’s series.
The DTM Safety Car is virtually identical to the Formula One pace car, meaning the 490-horsepower Mercs, Bimmers, and Audis competing in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters will be led during yellow flags by a range-topping, 503-horsepower GT S model.
As usual, the safety car has a light bar on the roof, in this case mounted on an aerodynamically optimized carbon-fiber air scoop. Added features include a front spoiler and a fixed rear wing, both of which are borrowed from the Edition 1 model. A special license plate with "Safety Car" lettering and orange/green LEDs, and radio equipment inside the cockpit complete the package.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles looks to be cutting the mileage coverage of its powertrain warranty for nearly every vehicle in its fleet, including all gasoline-powered Ram and Jeep vehicles. Since 2009, the automaker has offered a five-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, but starting on 2016 models, FCA will only offer a five-year/60,000-mile coverage.

It’s been only 13 years since BMW revived the Mini brand in 2001, and the Cooper has already been treated to a second overhaul for the 2014 model year. The redesign brought many changes inside and out, including fresh drivetrains. The Cooper S was upgraded to a larger four-cylinder engine that not only delivers more power and torque, but better fuel economy too.
The most striking fact about it, though, is that it’s longer and wider than it has ever been. Not only that, but Mini also launched its first-ever five-door Cooper, a body style that seemed unlikely with the Clubman still around. Moreover, the performance-oriented Cooper S also received one and a JCW is probably underway as well. The reasoning is simple here. Buyers are asking for increasingly larger interiors and the previous Cooper didn’t have much to offer in that department.
It’s not exactly a minivan (though it could become one at this rate), but the roomier interior and added legroom should bring more people into Mini dealerships. What’s more, the Cooper S 5-Door has just started a new career as a family hauler, something the Fiat 500 Abarth, for instance, can’t brag about yet. Hoping Fiat doesn’t get a "bright" idea soon, let’s have a closer look at the third-gen Mini Cooper S.

Watch the news and there’s no missing the widespread flooding happening all across Texas. Reports say the flooding and flood warnings extend nearly 800 miles from southern Texas and into Missouri. Thousands have been affected and millions of dollars in damage have occurred. Worse yet, reports say at least 27 people have died and 13 are still missing. Needleless to say, it’s a tough situation.

“Simplify, then add lightness” was the guiding principle set forth by Lotus founder Colin Chapman, and his company has (mostly) adhered to that philosophy ever since. But 21-years-ago, Mazda took a page from Chapman’s book when it introduced the first MX-5 Miata. Here was lightweight, open-top sports car in the spirit of British roadsters from the 1960s and 1970s, except it had functional electronics and didn’t burn through all its oil in a week. It also happened to be incredibly fun to drive, even well below the national speed limit.
For the new ND MX-5 Miata, Mazda has rediscovered these values. At 2,332 pounds, the new Miata is over 100 pounds lighter than the car it replaces, but, crucially, that weight is equally distributed evenly between the front and rear axles — a fact that Mazda proves in the video, in which a Miata is wheeled onto a giant aluminum fulcrum and balanced perfectly. (Sure, a set of electronic wheel scales could have been used, but that wouldn’t have been nearly as impressive.)
The new Miata uses Mazda’s Kodo design language, which looks absolutely fantastic. A 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine sends 155 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels. It should be showing up on dealer lots any day now, and pricing starts at $24,915. We’ll hopefully be getting behind the wheel soon for a full test.

Fans of the Need For Speed franchise have had a rough year. It has been about that long since news came out that Ghost Games, the Swedish studio that has been handling the NFS games for EA since 2013’s Need For Speed Rivals, was laying off staff and that the layoffs would mean a delay on the next title. But now we finally have word that a new title will be brought out in the fall, called simply: Need For Speed. EA is calling this a “reboot,” which explains the return of the original name, although it isn’t explained in what other way this is a reboot.
There have been a few images so far, a couple of an older Porsche 911, a new Mustang and a Nissan 180SX, all of them with visible modifications. There is also a short video clip showing these cars racing and fleeing from the cops. Pretty standard Need For Speed stuff, and it looks like there will be some impressive graphics as well. More information is said to be coming next month, which we assume will include a longer trailer.

The Can-Am Spyder RT has been subjected to another recall, proving that there seems to be no end in sight for the reverse trike’s multitude of issues. Not surprisingly, the latest recall is also fire hazard-related, similar to previous safety concerns that have plagued earlier versions of the model.
Almost 7,100 units of the Spyder RT are affected by the recall, all of which are units made from 2013. Even earlier models, those built from 2008 to 2012, are also being investigated for a similar problem, even though a recall to fix the same issue was already made back in 2012.
As if that’s not enough, the Can-Am DS 70 and DS 90, two ATVs designed for children, are reportedly capable of being faster than what Can-Am intended for these age-specific categories. That might not be too much of an issue for adults, but for young kids, it’s a pretty serious one. The specific details of the problem have yet to be divulged, but it appears that these vehicles are capable of exceeding speeds of 15 mph, which is the legal limit for the age categories that they’re homologated for.
Certain models of the DS 70 and DS 90 are also under threat of malfunctioning brakes, which would be a bigger headache for Can-Am in the event a young child gets hurt from this particular issue.
All in all, 2,385 units of the DS 70 and DS 90 have been tagged for recall with models ranging from as early as 2008 all the way to the current batch of 2015 models.

Female jealousy can rear its ugly head when one least expects it, and this aptly stands true for a Saudi man who married for the second time. So upset was his first wife that she decided to teach him a good lesson on the very first night post his second marriage. The woman decided to take her husband's car on a joyride, but she had some wicked plans playing on her mind. The woman broke the traffic rules and amassed fines worth 3,00,000 Saudi riyals which is equivalent to a whopping Rs 50 lakh.
While the man was busy celebrating his second marriage, the woman asked her brother to take her husband's Toyota pick up truck and drive deliberately through red lights so that the license number of the van could be caught on camera.
Throughout the evening the woman went on breaking all the traffic lights and registering the highest number of fines by Saher, a system introduced by Saudi traffic authorities to register rash driving, and record vehicles jumping red lights.
When the woman was quizzed about her antics she replied that the stunt was just to take revenge on her husband for his second marriage. This incidence has drawn attention on social media websites. However, reports suggest that this incidence could likely get backfired on the woman as eyewitnesses have confirmed that it was the woman and her brother who were actually on a joy ride, and hence they will be fined. They are also likely to receive a jail term and lashes for violating the traffic rules.
Ferrari is possibly the world's greatest automotive marquee and has been closely associated with motorsport ranging from Formula 1 and endurance racing since its inception. In India though, Ferrari's history has been slightly chequered due to errant dealers and minimal presence in cities like Mumbai. Now though, with a new and popular dealer, Navnit Motors appointed to take on operations and sales in Mumbai, both automotive enthusiasts and more importantly, its influential customers will finally appreciate Ferrari's presence in the western part of the country. Adding to the certainty that will follow, Ferrari has just released exclusively to ZigWheels an official price list for all its models in India.
The models sold in India as of now will be the Ferrari 488 GTB, the Ferrari 458 Spider, the Ferrari 458 Speciale, the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta and of course, the entry level Ferrari California T.
Detailed Price List : (ex-showroom, Mumbai)
Ferrari California T Convertible andndash; Rs 3.30 Crore
Ferrari 488 GTB Coupe andndash; Rs 3.84 Crore
Ferrari 458 Spider andndash; Rs 4.07 Crore
Ferrari 458 Speciale andndash; Rs 4.25 Crore
Ferrari F12 Berlinetta andndash; Rs 4.72 Crore
According to the dealership representative, response on the new Ferrari 488 GTB in particular has been quite spectacular with almost every allotted car for India being sold out instantly. The new California T, the first modern Ferrari to have a turbocharged engine has also been quite successful in terms of a customer response with a lot of potential clients preferring it since it has improved its looks over the last generation California.
Judging from the way the supercar market is growing in India and with other prominent Italian and German sportscar brands like Lamborghini and Porsche showing a great demand in their high end offerings in India in the last few years, Ferrari should have no problem in selling cars here due to the sheer level of heritage and motorsport prowess they bring to the table. We here at ZigWheels certainly look forward to Ferrari's new presence in India and hope to get behind the wheel of cars like the Ferrari 488 GTB and the California T very soon to bring our readers a comprehensive drive report on the same.
