It’s hard to find two supercars that are cooler than the McLaren P1. Some would nominate the LaFerrari, while others would go with the Porsche 918 Spyder. I, on the other hand, would nominate two cars: the McLaren F1 or a P1 that’s been customized through the McLaren Special Operations (MSO) division.
With the F1 significantly rarer and more expensive than the P1, an MSO-customized P1 seems to be the more attainable dream, to those who have already booked a P1 and have more than $1 million to spare, of course. As you may already know, all P1s have been spoken for since late 2013. But because building one is a laborious process, McLaren is still busy delivering the final batch of cars of the total 375-unit production run. And because the P1 has proven more popular for personalization than another supercars, one-off models keeping rolling out MSO’s shop in England.
The latest P1 by MSO to come into the spotlight is this gorgeous, blue-painted example built for David Kyte, chairman and founder of Hamilton Court FX. As usual, it’s the paint that makes it unique. While the glossy blue wrap already makes it stand out among other P1s, the bright-red stripes on its side skirts, front bumper, trunk lid, doors, and wheels make it that much more stunning to look at. The uniqueness continues on the inside, where the supercar received a light-blue center console and extra carbon-fiber and Alcantara.
The hybrid drivetrain remained unchanged, but that’s far from disappointing given total output sits at 903 horsepower and 1,100 pound-feet of torque.
