On the sidelines of a partnership with the Manchester United Football Club to nurture young footballers in India, Apollo Tyres launched a dual branded tyre to mark the occasion. The tyre with both Apollo and Manchester United branded on the side wall of an Alnac 4G tyre is a limited run production and will be available only in 15 inch rim size.
Former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre launched the limited edition tyre in the presence of Marco Paracciani, CMO Apollo Tyres and Satish Sharma, President, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa, Apollo Tyres.
The tyre in no way gets any performance enhancements or changes to its compound or tread pattern. It is merely a branding exercise for Manchester United fans in the Country. India is one of the larger markets where the Football club is popular around the world and the following makes it a fitting place to scout for new talent that can be driven towards the future of the club.
For those interested in the Apollo scholarship programme, you will have to be under 19 years of age. Two coaches form the Manchester United Football School and Mikael Silvestre will select six kids out of the 192 participants, one each from U9, U11, U13, U15, U17 and U19. These kids will be given a scholarship by Apollo tyres to train for a year with Youth Football International in Delhi. The best of this lot will get a week long residential training camp with the Manchester United Soccer School in Delhi.
