Over the years Maruti Suzuki has come to be known for its reliable service network. And to ensure that it not only lives up to the reputation but takes a step forward, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) announced that it will increase skill development activities. The Manesar-based car maker intends to achieve this by setting up Automobile Skill Enhancement Centres in government-operated Industrial Training Institutes.
In order to provide adequate training, each of these centres will be equipped with a model workshop in order to ensure practical training. Further, in order to ensure training in the right direction, the company will also appoint full-time trainers and provide all required tolls and equipment. Aside from this, with the help of partnerships with local Maruti Suzuki service networks, this initiative will ensure that the Industrial Training Institute (Gurgaon) students are job ready. Maruti Suzuki allocated Rs 5 crore for this project.
And this initiative isn't a one-time process. Maruti Suzuki will train nearly 2100 students through these ASECs annually. After the training process is complete, the participants of the program are free to seek employment in other than Maruti Suzuki Service centres. Maruti Suzuki will set up these ASECs in various cities including Jammu, Srinagar, Patiala, Kolkata, Mangalore, Kochi and more.
Pankaj Narula, Executive Director (Service), Maruti Suzuki "Through this initiative, Maruti Suzuki wants to contribute to the national effort for skill development and employability. With the growth in number of vehicles on roads, quality repair and maintenance offers a major employment opportunity."
In addition to the Training as part of the ITI curriculum, students will be given 50 days training by MSIL trainers in areas related to car service, repairs and maintenance. Students trained at the ASECs will be awarded an additional skill training certificate.
