Maruti Suzuki is now offering the AMT equipped Celerio in ZXI trim and has priced it at Rs 4.99 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. The Celerio ZXI is priced at Rs 50,000 over the manual variant. At the time of its launch, Maruti Suzuki intentionally did not provide the ZXI variant with the AMT gearbox to keep the price in check as it was important for customers to perceive AMTs as affordable technology. But with the popularity of AMTs increasing, even creating long waiting lists, the need to shield it on the pricing front is no longer required.
In fact, the Company has also revised the AMT variants pricing in the past, which is now dearer by another Rs 10,000, cashing in on its popularity. The ZXI AMT costs Rs 30,000 more than the VXI AMT, and for it you get all the features offered on the ZXI manual variant. These include a driver's airbag, tilt adjustable steering, factory fitted audio system with USB, Aux-in and Bluetooth connectivity, steering mounted audio controls, coloured ORVM casings with integrated turn indicators, keyless entry, rear wiper and front seatback pockets.
The top end manual variant though is still the ZXI with the options pack, which comes with alloy wheels, front fog lamps, passenger's airbag and ABS. This variant is about Rs 4,000 cheaper than the ZXI AMT variant.
Maruti Suzuki will introduce the diesel Celerio with its indigenously developed engine soon. The Celerio diesel will sport a 800cc twin-cylinder unit developing about 52PS/150Nm and is expected to return about 30kmpl in the ARAI tests.
