With fully redesigned i10 and i30 models unveiled ahead of the 2016 Paris Motor Show, Hyundai has a couple of important cars to showcase at the French event, but these won’t be the only vehicles on display at the company’s booth. With just a week left until Paris opens its doors, the Korean brand gave us a preliminary look at its latest concept. Dubbed N Concept RN30, it is based on the brand-new i30 and previews Hyundai’s upcoming performance-oriented hatchback.
The company didn’t have much to say about the RN30, but did reveal that the concept "was born as a racing machine" and that it was developed in "close collaboration" with its Motorsport division in Germany. The later is based near the Nurburgring track, where it opened a test center three years ago. The first vehicle to come out from this new branch was the rally-spec i20 WRC. Several new models wearing the performance "N" badge are set to follow, the first of which will be the i30 N. The hatchback is aimed at the likes of the Volkswagen Golf GTi and Ford Fiesta ST and is scheduled to arrive sometime in 2017 for the 2018 model year.
For the time being, Hyundai released just a teaser picture of the car, but the full unveiling is only a week away, with Hyundai set to host its Paris press conference on September 29. Stick around for more details and, in the meantime, check out the review below to find out what we already know about the N Concept RN30.
