Prior to the 2014 INTERMOT motorcycle show Yamaha has announced that the MT-125 streetbike offering and the YZF-R125 supersport motorcycle will be offered with ABS brakes as an optional extra. The announcement doesn't come as a surprise as its arch rival the 2014 KTM Duke 125 is already offered with ABS as a standard offering in the European market with a marginal difference of Rs 10,000 between it and the non ABS version of the Yamaha MT-125.
Apart from the ABS braking system no changes have been made on the Yamaha MT-125 and R125 on the mechanical or cosmetic front. The Yamaha MT-125 and Yamaha R125 are powered by a 124.7cc, liquid-cooled motor churning out 15PS at 9,000rpm and 12.4Nm at 8,000rpm. Yamaha haven't revealed pricing for the ABS version of the MT-125 and R125 but it is expected to be priced at a premium of around Rs 20,000 over the standard variant. The Yamaha MT-125 ABS versions will go on sale by November while the Yamaha R125 ABS variant will be available from January 2015 in the European market.
