Almost two-thirds of the Maruti Ciaz sales in its first month have been called in for a Clutch operation systems check for a possible faulty part. Maruti has issued a recall for the suspected fault in this system in 3,796 units of the Ciaz sold till 7 November, 2014 since its launch on October 6. The recall affects manual transmission cars only.
You can check if your car is part of the recall by logging on to the Maruti Suzuki website and filling in your 14 digit chassis number. Dealers will contact affected owners directly in any case, and the part will be replaced free of cost.
Maruti sold 6,345 units of the Ciaz in October, outselling the City in the process. The Honda City reclaimed top honours in November and sales of the Maruti Ciaz slipped to 5,232 units. The recalls further impact the well received car. It's a good thing though that the fault is arrested sooner rather than later with fewer units to fix now.
