An image showing a blurry outline of the 2016 Toyota Fortuner has emerged on several Thai publications. Although, Toyota hasn't sent out this image officially, reports suggest that it could be a snapshot of a presentation made by the Japanese carmaker for its dealers.
The forthcoming new Toyota Fortuner will be revealed alongside the 2016 Toyota Hilux pickup, and will be based on a new ladder-frame chassis. The new 2016 Toyota Fortuner will continue to sport its ruggedness and off-road ability.
The all-new 2016 Toyota Fortuner will be offered in petrol and diesel engine options in international markets. This forthcoming new SUV will also be offered in multiple variants. The engines are expected to be paired to manual and automatic transmissions with 2WD and 4WD.
The 2015 Toyota Fortuner was launched in India just last month. The current generation Fortuner comes equipped with a 2.5-litre and 3.0-litre diesel engine options. The 2.5-litre unit comes in 4x2 manual and automatic variants only, while the 3.0-litre diesel mill gets the 4x4 and 4x3 manual and automatic options.
As mentioned above the 2016 Toyota Fortuner is expected to launch in India in the first half of next year. Once launched, the 2016 Fortuner will lock horns with Hyundai Santa Fe, Ford Endeavour, and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. Reports suggest that this SUV will come priced between Rs 20-25 lakh (ex-showroom).
