2016 Ford Focus RS Exhaust Sound: Video

In case you wondered how the upcoming Focus RS sounds in the real world, as opposed to the edited promo videos that Ford has made public, you are in for a treat. A little one. Ford recently put on a media event starring the 2016 Focus RS at the headquarters of Classic Car Club Manhattan, just a few days before the model premieres on U.S. soil at the New York Auto Show.

As you can guess, some folks took video of the model as it was moved around the premises, recording the exhaust sounds coming from that turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Truth be told, it’s not the longest nor the most exciting video of the Focus RS you will ever see. But it does offer a small glimpse of the model’s U.S.-only features, such as the different turn signals and the lack of a middle taillight on the diffuser.

Unlike its inline-five-cylinder predecessor, the new Focus RS is powered by a turbocharged, 2.3-liter four-cylinder that develops "more than 315 horsepower," paired with a six-speed manual transmission. It’s "driftable" all-wheel-drive system is the real story though, since it can send up to 70 percent of the available power to the rear axle. But more on that in our 2016 Focus RS review.
