McLaren 570S is first in Sports series range

McLaren 570S front action

McLaren has captured the imagination of the modern Supercar/Hypercar fan with the highly competent 650S and P1 but the British manufacturer wants to expand and reach out to a wider audience. It's still a sports car though and the wider audience is still a relative term. The first of this Sports Series range is the 570S, and going by McLaren's top down approach, future models in the Sports Series will be watered down versions of the this car.

The 570S as the name suggests, packs in 570PS of power. It's pumped out of the 3.8-litre V8 that employs two turbochargers to give 600Nm of torque. The Sports car can do the 0-100kmph sprint in just 3.2 seconds and 0-200kmph in just 9.5 seconds. The 570S is then clearly gunning for the Mercedes AMG GT, the new Audi R8 and the Porsche 911.

While the engine remains the same as its stablemates, 30 percent of the engine components have been redesigned. It bears striking resemblance to its elder siblings too with a clear family design language visible. The 570S is extremely light and boasts of a power to weight ratio of 434PS per tonne.

Carbon-ceramic brakes are standard on the 570S it being the top of the line variant in the sport series but expect the lesser variants to get them in the options list. The multispoke forged alloy wheels get custom made Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres - 225/35/R19 on the front and 285/35/R20 on the rear.

The carbon fibre Mono Cell chassis weighs just 80kg and the overall dry weight of the car is just 1313kg. The McLaren is quite efficient too, at 10.85kmpl is exempt from the EU gas guzzler tax. This while the car is capable of doing a top speed of 328kmph is commendable.
