The Indian arm of Swedish bus maker, Scania Commercial Vehicles India (SCVI), displayed the ethanol engines for the first time in India along with an ethanol-powered Green bus at the ongoing Bus World 2015 exhibition. The company also showcased its premium range of Metrolink 13.7 m coach at this exposition and delivered the same to its customers.
Speaking on the occasion, Anders Grundstromer, Managing Director, Scania India, and Senior Vice-President, said: "We are delighted to participate in Busworld, this is an excellent platform for showcasing our products and services. In this edition of Busworld, we are displaying our ethanol engine for the first time in India and showcasing India's first ethanol-powered Green Bus and the market leading premium intercity bus - the Metrolink 13.7 m coach. Keeping in mind India's need for a sustainable transport system, we will bring more products that run on alternative fuel and help drive the Swach Bharat campaign and the concept of Smart Cities."
Scania had received orders for 14 buses from Hebron Transports, eight buses from Transit Logistics and 20 from Kaushik Global Logistics (KGL). With the delivery of these buses to Transit Logistics, Scania completes its entry into the state of Telangana as well.
The Metrolink buses, according to the company, are equipped with safety features such as Fleet Management System (FMS), speed limit compliant to state regulations, six emergency exits with twelve hammers, emergency doors, 100 per cent fire retardant bus body, and Blended Retarder andndash; a technology that keeps the service breaks cold for full emergency performance.
