It hasn't been long since Nissan started exporting cars from India. And within a short span of five years, the Japanese car maker has already achieved a milestone of exporting 5,00,000 cars to over 106 countries. FY 2014-15 turned out to be quite productive in the export market for Nissan as it was the second largest exporter of passenger cars from India during this time. Amongst the cars that were sent overseas, demand for their hatchback Micra was the most, and was regarded as the most exported car.
Commenting on the new milestone achievement, Mr. Guillaume Sicard, President, Nissan India Operations said, "India is a key strategic market for Nissan. While exports help us in optimal utilization of our manufacturing capacity, it also helps showcase world-class Indian production quality on the global stage and expands the scope for widening the export base for India-built cars."
For Nissan the Micra comprises of around 73 per cent of exports from India. Other popular models exported from their product portfolio include the Sunny and the Datsun Go. Nissan India stands in the 2nd position in volume of shipping parts within the Nissan world.
