Honda BR-V 7-seat SUV sketches released
Honda released sketches of its upcoming SUV christened BR-V. The new Honda SUV will be based on the Brio platform on which the Amaze sedan and Mobilio MPV have been based. The Honda BR-V prototype will make its debut at the Gaikindo Indonesian International Auto Show 2015 which will be held in late August in Tangerang, Indonesia. From the sketch it is evident that the Honda BR-V SUV adopts an aggressive styling. The design of the upcoming Honda car has been based on the CRV especially the dominating twin split chrome grille with the Honda emblem in the centre. The bumper has been aggressively styled with creases, skid plates and chrome finished fog lamp housing. The flared wheel arches with body cladding also adds more muscle to the overall design. The rear of the car is simpler with a petite tail lamp, sculpted bumper and skid plates. The large alloy wheels compliment the overall brute design and the Honda BR-V has all the design cues to impress the Indian buyers.
The BR-V nomenclature stands for Bold Runabout Vehicle and is an urban SUV developed by the Honda Randamp;D Asia Pacific Co. Ltd. (HRAP) in Thailand. The Honda BR-V has been specially developed for the Asian market and India will be among the major markets for the Japanese carmaker. Like the Mobilio, the Honda BR-V too will be having seven seats. The dimensions and wheelbase of 2,652mm of the Honda Mobilio and the Honda SUV will be same. The interior of the Honda BR-V is expected to be similar to the one found of the Mobilio but with better features.
Powering the Honda BR-V will be both petrol and diesel motor as seen on the Honda Amaze and Mobilio. The 1.5-litre displacement petrol engine will produce around 120PS while the 1.5-litre diesel mill will churn out around 100PS. The Honda BR-V will most likely be showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi with a possible launch by late 2016. Expected pricing of the car should be between Rs 8 to 12 lakh.
