The launch of the Suzuki S-Cross is just around the corner and the highly-anticipated car is in news for all the right reasons. The S-Cross recently underwent ASEAN NCAP test and has managed to score a 5-star rating.
The agency used an S-Cross manufactured at Suzuki's manufacturing facility in Hungary, and the car in question sported specifications for the Malaysian and Singaporean market. The tested mule was equipped with dual front airbags, ABS and ESC as standard safety features.
The S-Cross scored a good 15.48 points out of 16, in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) category which resulted in its 5-star rating. However, it managed to acquire only 4-stars when it came to the Child Occupant Protection (COP) category, as it managed to achieve 39.50 points out of 49.
The S-Cross will be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options. A 1.4-litre unit that churns out 95PS of power and 130Nm of torque and a 1.6-litre Fiat-sourced Multijet engine unit that delivers 118PS of power and 320Nm of torque will do duty under the upcoming new S-Cross, according to reports. Internationally, the S-Cross also comes with a 1.6-litre petrol unit that is mated to a CVT and in an AWD trim, but we will have to wait and see if it is brought to the Indian shores.
Once launched, the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross will lock horns with the Hyundai i20 Active, Toyota Etios Cross and the Fiat Avventura and the Ford EcoSport. The S-Cross is expected to be priced at around Rs 6-9 lakh.
