2015 Italian Moto2 and Moto3 GP Race Report

Tito Rabat

Rabat scores perfect victory

A perfect race from start to finish meant that Tito Rabat won the Moto2 class race of the 2015 Italian Grand Prix at Mugello. It was Dominique Aegerter who led the race in the initial stages of the race but the Spanish rider grabbed the race lead from him in the seventh lap of the race. Once in front, Rabat started putting in some hot laps to etch out a healthy gap from his rivals and it seemed as if he would cruise to an easy victory. But there was a twist in the closing stages of the race as a rejuvenated Johann Zarco soon caught up with the race leader. The last lap of the race was an interesting affair as the French Rider tested Rabat on few occasions but he maintained a cool head to win the race. It was Rabat's first victory of the 2015 season and pushes him second in the standings behind Zarco.

Miguel Oliveira

Oliveira grabs debut win

Miguel Oliveira maintained a steady head to win a closely contested race at Mugello to clinch his first Moto3 triumph of his career. It was a closely contested race with only 0.3 seconds separating the top four riders who were in the hunt for the lead. Such was the competition and rivalry between the leading pack of riders that the race lead was exchanged on almost every corner and the Italian fans were having a gala time. Oliveira showed glimpses that he had the pace to win but couldn't hold onto the lead for long until the final lap when he was in front. The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider went into the final lap with a slender lead over Kent but there was always a possibility of the British rider slip streaming past him. Gladly that didn't happen as Oliveira became the first Portuguese rider to win in Grand Prix racing.
