Nissan Motor Company Ltd has chosen cricketer Rohit Sharma of the Indian cricket team as their new global brand ambassador on Wednesday. Rohit Sharma will be accompanied by all-rounder Andre Russell from West Indies and Suzie Bates, women's team captain from New Zealand, as the brand ambassadors in partnership with International Cricket Council (ICC).
Commenting on the announcement, Roel de Vries, Nissan corporate vice-president said, "As genuine performers in the shorter form of the game, these players consistently deliver on the big stage. We look forward to working together to bring cricketing excitement to fans worldwide, starting with the World Twenty20."
The brand ambassadors will be active on social media supporting the fan focused initiatives from Nissan during the World T20 Championship. The three ambassadors will join Dale Steyn and Kagiso Rabada, both from South Africa, in the Nissan cricket family.
Speaking on the occasion, Rohit Sharma, who is in Dhaka for the Asia Cup, said "I'm thrilled to work with Nissan on their partnership with the ICC. The World T20 is very special to me and takes a tremendous amount of hard work and innovation to win,"
Nissan Motor Company Ltd. has signed an eight-year sponsorship agreement with ICC from 2016 to 2013 which will include all tournaments held in that period. The World T20 cricket tournament will be hosted in India from March 15th to April 3rd across the nation.
