Sometime in the 1960s, a successful tractor builder in northern Italy bought a Ferrari 250 GT. Unfortunately, he didn’t think much of it. So, he brought his complaints directly to Enzo Ferrari, who responded by telling him he should stick to building tractors. After the rude dismissal, Ferruccio Lamborghini decided he could do better and started his own car company.
2016 would be Ferruccio’s 100th birthday, so to mark the milestone, Lamborghini will build a limited-production supercar as a tribute to the company’s founder. Thought to be called the Centenario LP 770-4, current rumors suggest that prospective buyers were shown a 3D hologram model of the new car during the 2015 Monterey Car Week.
We don’t know much about it at this point, but we do know that it will be fast, rare and very special. Here’s what we can tell you so far about the 760-horsepower tribute to Ferruccio Lamborghini.
Updated 02/26/2016: Lamborghini dropped a first teaser video for its upcoming Centanario supercar.
