Flaunting a brand new corporate design, Skoda India inaugurated its largest 3S (sales, service, spares) facility, in Chennai recently. Possessed by Gurudev Motors, this is the Czech carmaker's first bit of infrastructure to be based on the new design, with a spacious layout and reformed functionalities for an improved customer experience. Employing this strategy, Skoda India has planned to revamp its entire dealership network.
Located at Ambattur, the new facility sprawls spans across a sprawling 44,000 sq ft area, with 3100 sq ft designated for display, 3750 sq ft for sales and around 33,000 sq ft for the service workshop. With 35 bays, the workshop is equipped to service close to 60 cars per day. Among other unique features at the facility are a brand accessory zone, a training zone and lounges for customers, car owners and drivers.
Skoda has recently floated its latest offering in the market in the form of the Superb. The refreshed sedan that was launched earlier this week is more spacious than ever before and has been priced starting at Rs 22.68 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). Under the hood are both petrol and diesel engine options on the new Superb that it borrows from the Octavia. The 1.8-litre TSI unit makes peak power of 180PS and torque of 320Nm for the manual gearbox version while the automatic produces slightly less torque. The diesel on the other hand makes 177PS and 350Nm from a 2.0-liter mill and comes in only the automatic avatar.
Skoda had opted to stay away from the 2016 Auto Expo and is now banking on a few new launches this year to bounce back following Volkswagen's shocking emission scandal last year.
