In a recent announcement, Aston Martin not only declared a key partnership with Oman Air but also released the first official images of its Lagonda sedan. These pictures were taken when the pre-production model landed in Oman for its final testing phase in hot weather conditions.
This new sedan not only revives the name that the British car maker used from 1976-90, but also gains its inspiration from the older sedan. It gets the slim headlights like its predecessor but the grille continues to remain a typical of what we have seen on the current generation cars.
The car will share the same platform used by the Rapide S and also the 5.9-litre V12 engine that pumps 560PS of power and 630Nm of torque. Mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, the car is capable of achieving a top speed of 306kmph.
Designed exclusively for the middle-eastern markets, the Lagonda will be put through an exhaustive round of tests before its launch.
Oman Air's General Manager Marketing, Mohammed Al Shikely, announced the partnership, saying, "And once the Lagonda begins its testing programme, Oman's landscapes, autumn heat and superbly-maintained highways will enable Aston Martin's engineers to really put the car through its paces."
The Aston Martin Lagonda will be sold on 'invitation only' and will be produced in limited numbers. Deliveries to middle-eastern countries will commence in 2015.
