Every year, female automotive journalists from around the world gather to award the prestigious Women's World Car of the Year award. This year, 15 journalists, including Renuka Kripalani from India awarded the coveted award to the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
The judges were in charge of voting on ten different criteria: style, appeal, design, function, drive quality, storage, comfort, "wow" factor, sex appeal and value for money. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class topped the list as the winner followed closely by the new Audi A8 and the highly acclaimed Tesla Model S.
Speaking on the occasion, Sandy Myhre, Founder of Women's World Car of the Year said, "There was considerable discussion among the judges earlier this year about our voting format and cars on the short list. The winning car companies can be justifiably proud of their achievement because it is very hard to get on the short list and to win a category, let alone the supreme trophy."
As a fun exercise, judges were asked to nominate their 'Dream car', the car they would aspire to own, if they don't already. The new Jaguar F-type Coupe, as voted by women motoring writers around the world won this year's dream car category.
