Chevrolet Indian announced that it will roll out the next generation of the Beat hatchback in our market in first half of 2017. The Chevrolet Beat is among the most important cars for the American manufacturer as it is among its few successful products in India. The 2017 Chevrolet Beat will undergo a cosmetic and mechanical transformation and will not be a mere facelift. It was earlier reported that the new Chevrolet Beat will be based on the M2 platform as seen on the 2016 Chevrolet Spark that was launched in the overseas markets. But the American carmaker denied this as manufacturing the 2017 Chevrolet Beat on the M2 platform was escalating costs. Given the fact that India is a price sensitive market, Chevrolet will develop the upcoming hatchback on the current Beat's M300 platform.
The styling of the 2017 Chevrolet Beat will be heavily based on the new Spark. It will be the same on the interiors front as well. Expect the upcoming Chevrolet Beat to have feature packed and more premium interiors in comparison to the current car. The new Chevrolet Spark sports a 1.4-litre displacement all-aluminium engine. But for the Indian market it will be downsized to 1.0-litre, three-cylinder motor. The 2017 Chevrolet Beat will be offered with a diesel heart as well. It will be powered by the same 1.0-litre mill as seen on the current car but will be tweaked for more power, refinement and better fuel efficiency. Chevrolet's parent company General Motors is betting beg on Indian market and for that purpose will be investing billions of dollars at its new facility in Maharashtra. As Chevrolet plans to make India the manufacturing hub for its small cars expect percentage of localisation to rise up and the 2017 Chevrolet Beat would be aggressively priced owing to this fact.

Representational pic
We came across a very unusual website which aims to fix time constraints for rich people who own supercars. It's a dating service for supercar owners and those interested in the lifestyle. This dating website aims to put 'fine living companions' in the passenger seat next to wealthy single men.
SupercarDating is a UK website launched by young entrepreneur Sangeeth Segaram who owns a Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster which costs a whopping Rs 2.9 crore. The aim of the website is to help connect men and women who share a passion for fast cars and luxury lifestyles. The website comes with a tagline 'Test drive your date'.
Segaram states that he came up with this unique idea as he struggled to find a genuine date despite being a loaded property developer. He stated he spoke to many female colleagues about online dating websites and the general consensus was that a lot of men pretended to be wealthy. This was the eureka moment for the young entrepreneur. He conceived the idea that performance car ownership would provide a glimpse of a date's wealth.
The website verifies supercar ownership using identification, vehicle ownership and corroborating insurance documentation. The portal also incorporates supercar themes into its basic features. For example, the 'ignition' is the log-in module, 'rev it' is equivalent to a 'like', while 'track date' means you want to request an instant date.
The Mahindra TUV3OO, that is TUV Three Double Oh, like its bigger cousin, the XUV5OO is sure to captivate the SUV crazy Indian audiences who are looking forward to an affordable and compact SUV that does not look like a hopped up hatchback with steroids. And the TUV3OO is exactly that andndash; a conventional SUV shape with muscular design aspects. So here are five things you need to know about this upcoming SUV.
Design
The TUV3OO's design will follow Mahindra's convention of making tough and masculine looking cars which is completely the opposite to the norm of making sleeker looking SUVs that are generally soft roaders instead. The TUV3OO will have muscular haunches, a prominent grille and chunky alloy wheels to add to the appeal. To add to the muscular appeal, the TUV3OO's wheels are right at the four corners of the body with short overhangs. The TUV3OO also gets a very distinctive shoulder line and headlamps that fuse well into the body. To add to the muscular appeal, the TUV3OO will also have a tailgate mounted spare wheel. This new compact SUV has been designed by the legendary design firm, Pininfarina.
Engines
In terms of mechanicals, the Mahindra TUV3OO will be powered by a sub 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine, which has been given the mHawk80 nomenclature. Judging from the name, the new engine will most probably be rated at 80PS of peak power and will come mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Since the TUV3OO is based on an all-new platform, we also expect this compact SUV to be a front wheel drive layout. The TUV5OO though will not be getting a four wheel drive option anytime soon. We also think that the TUV3OO is one of the best platforms that Mahindra can offer an automatic transmission on.
Price and launch
Like almost every other vehicle in the Mahindra arsenal, expect the new TUV3OO to be priced really well. We expect pricing to be near similar to that of the Quanto and to be of excellent value for money for the general Indian car buyer. Expect the TUV3OO price to be between Rs 7.5-10.5 lakhs. The TUV3OO will be launched in mid September and will be available in showrooms immediately thereafter.
Competition
The Mahindra TUV3OO will take on a whole bunch of other products from the compact SUV segment. Its biggest rival of course will be the Ford Ecosport and the upcoming Maruti XA Alpha compact SUV. It will also go up against the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Mahindra's very own Mahindra Scorpio. The TUV3OO positioned as it is will also go up against sedans like the Honda City and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz as it will target a similar target audience.
Accessories
When Mahindra announced the TUV3OO they mentioned how almost every single Mahindra vehicle goes though atleast a small amount of personalization or modification once sold to the public. To capitalize on the public's interest on aftermarket mods, especially on such a muscular looking car, Mahindra will offer a long list of aftermarket accessories that have been developed in co-ordination with the company itself. This will include bullbars, claddings, alloy wheels and of course additional lights that one can mount on the front to add to the look. On the whole then, we expect some pretty tastefully modified TUV3OOs to hit to streets soon after launch.

Amit Jain, president of Uber India, said the company was "extremely bullish" on the Indian market and that it continues to see a 40 percent monthly growth, FT reported.

Earlier this month, a Delhi court revoked a government ban imposed on Uber, clearing the way for the company to operate in the capital city and reapply for a licence.
India asked unregistered web-based taxi services to halt operations in December after a driver contracted with Uber was accused of rape. Uber applied for licences in New Delhi but kept operating while approvals were pending.
One of the fastest-growing sharing-economy companies, Uber operates in 57 countries, with an estimated value of more than $40 billion. It has also tangled with transportation authorities across the globe, along with attorneys seeking to deem Uber drivers employees entitled to benefits.
Chevrolet hasn't had a joyous run in the Indian four-wheeler market. Among its few products that have clicked in our market is the Beat hatchback. The American carmaker wants to cash in on this sentiment and announced that the upcoming Chevrolet Beat will be offered as a notchback along with the standard hatchback car. The Chevrolet Beat notchback will be a sub-4metre car to make use of the excise benefits. The new Chevrolet compact sedan will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and the upcoming Ford Figo Aspire.
It is expected that styling of the upcoming notchback will be based on the new Chevrolet Spark that was launched in the South Korean market and design cues will be similar to the Hyundai offerings. Like the hatchback, the Chevrolet Beat notchback will be based on the M300 platform. The Chevrolet compact sedan will be offered with both petrol and diesel powerplants. Both the motors will have a displacement of 1.0-litre and will be a three-cylinder engine. The mills will be tuned to offer better fuel efficiency as it is among the most vital criteria's for buyers in this segment. With a jump in traffic, consumers are slowly shifting to automatic transmissions. It is expected that Chevrolet will offer automatic transmission on the upcoming Beat notchback. With the American carmaker investing heavily in India, localisation percentage for its components will also rise. This should enable Chevrolet to price its offerings competitively. The Chevrolet Beat compact sedan will debut in 2017.
