The tricked-out Volkswagen Jetta from the first Fast and Furious movie is up for sale

1995 VW Jetta Fast and Furious

The original Fast and Furious movie, the one that started it all, featured a bevy of American hot-rods and imports, all vying for screen time with their human co-stars. Little wonder then that lost in this mayhem was this white Volkswagen Jetta that Jesse (played by Chad Lindberg) took to Race Wars in the movie. As such, this 1995 model German car is now up for auction at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2016 auction.

Now, being featured only in one scene of the movie might be off-putting at face value, but there's more to the story than that. You see, this 1995 Jetta has a custom stereo, an onboard PlayStation 2, and all the wild graphics and body kit pieces you remember from the movie. It's also been autographed by Paul Walker, Chad Lindberg, and director Rob Cohen, so you know that is worth something over time.

Truly, the only letdown of this supped-up boy-racer is its 4-speed automatic transmission. Any cool factor gained by the spoiler, side decals and high-performance motor are all but ruined by the self-shifting auto tranny under the hood. But nonetheless, this car is likely best for owning rather than driving. It'll likely continue to increase in value even if it is an automatic.

There's more Hollywood folklore with this Jetta. It is being put up for sale by Frankie Muniz of Malcolm in the Middle, Agent Cody Banks and Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No fame. There's no word on why Muniz, who is an avid professional car racer, is selling it, but it seems he's decided that it's time for another collector to enjoy owning this extraordinarily minor piece of Fast andamp; Furious history.

Christmas may have just gone by, but we certainly wouldn't mind something like that as a retroactive gift.
