Watch the Mercedes-Maybach Vision 6 Being Controlled By Remote: Video

The 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance hosted many spectacular debuts, one of which was the Mercedes-Maybach Vision 6. A concept car that’s not likely to move into production anytime soon, the Vision 6 is modern rendition of pre-WWII luxury cars and it’s packed with innovative technology and an electric drivetrain that cranks out in excess of 700 horsepower. It also sports a massive stance that would match the grandeur of any Rolls-Royce, but, despite its imposing appearance, it can be controlled by remote.

A fresh video from the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance shows the Maybach Vision 6 being moved back and forth via a small remote controller that can also turn the wheels. Interestingly enough, the vehicle moves pretty smooth despite its enormous size, which could mean that the remote is actually controlling the coupe’s all-electric drivetrain and not just an auxiliary motor.

At one point in the video, the man with the controller calls the Vision 6 an autonomous car, but that’s not exactly true. Although the concept features some sort of semi-autonomous tech, the fact that it is controlled by a person doesn’t make it fully autonomous. Still, this concept likely features a prototype version of Mercedes’ future autonomous technology and that remote control could very well be part of it. Parking would be infinitely easier, especially for a vehicle that’s six meters long.

For now, the Mercedes-Maybach Vision 6 will enter the history books as the world’s most expensive remote control car.
