Just like two years ago, newly crowned and now two-time DTM Drivers champion Marco Wittman is set to be honored with a new, limited edition BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition. The special edition car is set to celebrate Wittman winning the 2016 drivers title in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters racing series for BMW Team RMG.
The new special edition M4 DTM Champion Edition shares some similarities with its predecessor two years ago. Both were created in limited quantities and both were dressed to the nines with unique liveries and special badges to commemorate the BMW Motorsport Works race driver’s accomplishments.
Based largely on the BMW M4 GTS, the new M4 DTM Champion Edition comes with a bevy of modifications, both in the exterior and interior. One highlight, in particular, is the introduction of a new water injection system that Bosch developed for the M4 GTS last year, helping the special edition M4 DTM produce an output of 500 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque and hit an electronically limited top speed of 189.5 mph to go with a sprint to 62 mph in just 3.8 seconds.
Only 200 units of the M4 DTM Champion Edition will be sold to the public, but the good news is that the German automaker plans to offer the special edition sports car globally. No word yet on which markets will get how many of the 200 units, but it does give those who missed out on the M4 GTS an new opportunity to get a more exclusive version at a price of €148,500, which converts to about $163,275.
