Karun Chandhok elected to Formula E panel

Karun Chandhok elected to Formula E panel

Karun Chandhok who drives for Mahindra Racing, and Spain's Oriol Servia who races for Dragon Racing will represent all Formula E drivers on matters related to driver safety, and in particular, the layout of each circuit in the new all-electric series.

They will also be involved on evolutions relating to the championship and at times will also have the opportunity to make proposals, in collaboration with all the other Formula E drivers.

Commenting on the selection, Chandok said, "I look forward to working with Oriol as well as the FIA and the Formula E teams to find ways to make the tracks better for racing, safer and also explore ways to tweak the rules where needed, to improve the series."

Jean Todt, President FIA, expressed his views by saying, "It's very important for the FIA to have the feedback of drivers, especially in a new and innovative championship like Formula E, which takes place on challenging city circuits."

He also said, "As the elected representatives of the Formula E drivers, Karun Chandhok and Oriol Servia will be involved in all questions related to driver safety and in particular the layout of each circuit in the championship."

The second round of the Formula E championship is scheduled to be held at Putrajaya, Malaysia. Chandhok will be back on track for this championship alongside his team mate Bruno Senna on November 22, 2014.
