The highly anticipated Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe was just unveiled ahead of its official debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Using a new moniker resulting from a recent change in naming strategy at AMG, the AMG C63 Coupe replaces the W204-based 2015 Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe, which arrived only three years ago, shortly after the Germans decided to replace the CLC with a real C-Class Coupe.
The new AMG C63 Coupe is the fourth member of the current C-Class lineup, joining the standard sedan, the AMG-prepped sedan, and the standard coupe. Convertible version of both the C-Class Coupe and the AMG C63 Coupe are also set to arrive, but that won’t happen until 2016. Meanwhile, the AMG C63 Coupe is here to battle it out against popular 2015 BMW M4 Coupe, the bold 2015 Lexus RC F, and the dated 2015 Audi RS5 Coupe Sport Edition.
It will do so using Mercedes’ new styling for its compact products, as well as a new 4.0-liter V-8 engine that’s set to become the norm for AMG vehicles. Though it will break cover in Frankfurt next month, it won’t go on sale until the summer of 2016, meaning it will arrive in the U.S. as a 2017 model.
