Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated the new facility yesterday making it the fifth plant of the company in Karnataka. Located 40km away from Bengaluru, the plant is spread over an area of 38,000 square feet.

Peter Tyroller, Bosch Group board member said, "India is a key pillar of our growth strategy in Asia Pacific. A strong local presence is the basis for further growth in the region. Bosch has set a target to double its sales in Asia Pacific by 2020."

Development of the Bidadi plant has been split into two phases. As of now only one of them will be operational, the second expected to kick off in 2018. With this plant now operational, the company is expected to shift its existing facility from the Adugodi to Bidadi. Bosch has already commenced production of the common rail fuel injection system pump at the new facility and within the next two years, it is also expected to start production of the newer version of the pump.
