Pictures of the Mahindra TUV300 compact SUV have surfaced online completely undisguised in production form for the first time. The compact SUV goes up against the likes of the Ford EcoSport in the Sub-4 metre compact SUV segment.
While we already knew that the Mahindra TUV300 will sport a boxy design to portray masculinity that aims to mask its compact proportions, we can all now see the dominance of vertical and horizontal lines all across the TUV300 from the bonnet to the wheel wells to even window openings. The front grille is made up of five rectangular chrome lined cut outs. It's flanked by a set of sweptback headlamps. A simple bumper with squarish fog lamps rounds up the front end design. By the look of it, the TUV300 looks like a car that will be affordable to make and fix.
Move past the squared up wheel wells to the high set window sill lines, rising up past the blackened B-pillar to the raked C-pillar. The TUV300 seems to offer ample space at the back. The tailgate will towards the side and is mounted with a spare wheel. The TUV300 gets body coloured door handles, wing mirrors and spare wheel cover. It comes with 10 spoke alloy wheels, that will possibly be offered only on the top variant.
The TUV300 will be powered by a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder version of the mHawk engine, christened mHawk80. The 80 suffix indicates possible power output of 80PS from this engine and expected it to be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as well as a AMT transmission. Mahindra will launch the TUV300 compact SUV on September 10
