2016 Auto Expo: Fiat and Abarth to introduce new variants of existing cars

Fiat at 2016 Auto Expo

Fiat and Abarth currently have five different cars in the Indian market. These include the Fiat Punto Evo, the new Fiat Linea, the Fiat Avventura and the Fiat Linea Classic and of course the Fiat 500 that is now only available in the Abarth trim. At the 2016 Indian Auto Expo, Fiat and Abarth will not be showcasing an all new car but will instead expand its variants portfolio.

Although unconfirmed, we expect Fiat and Abarth to bring in a hotter and better looking version of the Linea which could possibly get Abarth badging and the 145PS version of the 1.4-litre T-Jet engine that it already gets. The new Abarth Linea would also get a slightly more aggressive body kit and of course a nicer set of wheels which accentuates the overall look of the car.

Apart from the Linea, we also expect new variants of the Punto and Avventura to hit the stands along with the slim chance of a manual gearbox Esseesse version of the Abarth 595 to finally make an appearance. There is a strong possibility of the Abarth 595 facelift to make it to the 2016 Auto Expo. Although does have a Although Fiat does not have much to showcase, the Fiat floor space will be shared with Jeep which will make its long awaited induction into the Indian market with the likes of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Jeep Wrangler.

Although not on display at the Auto Expo, Fiat will also eventually bring the Linea replacement, the Fiat Tipo to India in the coming year. This new car will be a long awaited replacement to the now aging sedan and will go right up against the likes of the Honda City, Volkswagen Vento and the Hyundai Verna.
