Tata Motors first previewed the Prima Truck racing at the beginning of 2014, a month prior to the first ever truck race in India. Since then the event has seen some exciting truck racing action time and again. The Prima Truck racing now enters its third year and will be organised on 20th March. Like the last two seasons, the Tata Prima Truck race will continue to be organised at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida.
The Tata Prima Truck racing championship will continue to see participation from international drivers. These drivers will represent six teams and each team will have two trucks racing for it. Aside from this, for the first time ever, Tata has introduced an Indian Truck Driver Race selection and training program. The Indian participants will be selected from a pool of drivers who are employed with key Tata Motors customers. Tata Motors will have 12 Indian truck drivers selected to race this year.
Ravindra Pisharody, Executive Director, Commercial Vehicle Business Unit, said "We at Tata Motors are delighted to host season III of the T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship, a much-awaited calendar event and one of the most pioneering in the country's commercial vehicle industry andamp; India's motorsports history. Hand-picked through a rigorous driver training and selection program from a pool of commercial vehicle drivers, we are proud to have collaborated with our customers for a shared vision in promoting the profession of truck driving. We are excited and honored to have these individuals as the newest members of the T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship."
The third season of the Tata T1 Prima Truck Racing will be split into two categories: Super class for the Indian race truck drivers, and Pro class for the internationally acclaimed truck racing drivers.
