Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza could only get diesel engine in India

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza rumoured to come in only diesel to India

One of the most awaited launches at the upcoming edition of the Delhi Auto Expo, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza could turn out to be a real disappointment for petrol vehicle lovers with only a reported diesel engine to offer.

The SUV could be powered by the 1.3L diesel engine, which produces 90PS and 200Nm and also powers the carmaker's MPV the Eritga, reported ETAuto. Maruti Suzuki has got this engine on license from Fiat. However, owing to the successful stints of petrol variants of cars like the Hyudai Creta, the petrol variant of the Vitara Brezza could make an appearance at a later stage following the car's debut in India.

The report also adds that a petrol variant could be manufactured at Manesar but it will only be exported, initially to Indonesia. The petrol trim is speculated to sport the 1.4-litre K14B unit that is we have already seen on the Ertiga. This unit makes 95PS of power and 130Nm of torque and comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

Despite having only one fuel option, India's largest carmaker is aiming at selling 10,000 units a month. Following the unveiling of the car at the Auto Expo next month, it is expected to go on sale from early in March.

A recently released teaser, which gives us a glimpse of the car's grille prior to its premiere at the 2016 Auto Expo shows that the Vitara Brezza gets a blackened out grille up front which is flanked on either side by rectangular wraparound headlights. It also gets projector type headlights with Daytime Running Lights.
