The 2016 Auto Expo is scheduled to start in a week's time, and French car manufacturer Renault will be showcasing the facelifted Duster at the event. The Duster was introduced in India back in 2012 and has not received any major upgrade since then, apart from the addition of AWD variant in 2014. Now, with the facelifted Duster, Renault aims to again draw the attention of compact SUV buyers in the market. The facelifted Duster will receive selective updates on the exterior and some in the interior as well. The compact SUV showcased at the Auto Expo will look very similar to the current Duster sold in Brazil.
At first glance, the updates to the exterior of the facelifted Duster are mostly cosmetic, and comprise of a single slat grille, re-styled headlamps, silver scuff plate, and new alloy wheels. The back also gets newly designed tail lamp clusters with a slightly reshaped rear scuff plate. The facelift will also receive few changes to the interior giving the compact SUV a refreshed look, including mild changes to the dashboard and new upholstery.
The facelifted Renault Duster will continue to be powered by the 1.5-litre diesel engine with two power outputs: 85PS and 110PS. The AWD system will remain only in the top-end variant. The new facelifted Duster is expected to be introduced with an AMT option for the 110PS models.
On the price factor, the facelifted Duster is expected to have a slight hike but will still be competitively positioned in the market. The facelifted Renault Duster will continue to compete against its present rivals like the Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV 300, Nissan Terrano, Hyundai Creta and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
