Republic Day: India gifts ambulances and buses to Nepal

In an effort to strengthen the friendship with one of our neighbouring country, India on the occasion of 67th Republic Day gifted 40 ambulances and eight buses to Nepal. The event was held inside the premises of the Indian embassy. Out of the total number of vehicles gifted, the Indian Ambassador handed over Nepal's Ranjit Rae the keys of 33 ambulances and six buses which will be further distributed amongst different charity organisations and schools. Also at the event, the Consulate General of India gifted the remaining seven ambulances and two buses to different organisations in Birgunj.

A strong gathering with a strength of over 2,500 people were present at the event. Attending the occasion were diplomats, journalists, social activists, business community leaders and government staff. The Indian Ambassador distributed books to 52 libraries, schools, and training institutes of Nepal while disabled Ex-servicemen, and widow/dependents of Ex-servicemen where provided money and warm clothes.

After hoisting the Indian national flag, Ambassador Rae read out to the people President Pranab Mukharjee's message. The flag hoisting was followed by songs sung by the students of Kendriya Vidyalaya and Modern Indian School while the Nepal Army band had enchanted the audience with their music.
