One of the most awaited cars of the 2016 Indian Auto Expo has to be the newest avatar of India's favorite MPV, the Toyota Innova. The new Innova will be named the Innova Crysta in India and will be launched on Feb 3, 2016. The new Innova Crysta will be the Innova's first real make over after over a decade of remaining generally unchanged apart from a few mid life facelifts. The new Innova Crysta will be more expensive than before and will have a new engine to match.
The new Innova Crysta is based on the new Toyota New Global Architecture and will also share the platform with the new Fortuner that is set to come to India next year. The new Innova Crysta will get a whole new body with a new front end with projector headlamps and daytime running lights. The new grille is a welcome change from the current generation MPV and is finished in black with chrome slats. The new Innova Crysta will also get flared wheel arches and a new side profile as compared to the car we have today. At the back, the new Innova will get a set of new tail lamps which will also get the LED treatment. The new Innova Crysta will also get 17-inch wheels.
The premium feel will continue on the interior front as well. The new car gets a new dashboard with a dual tone finish and silver accent pieces. The new Innova will also get leather interior and captain seats on the higher variants. The new Innova Crysta will also get climate control, Bluetooth and a 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Considering the climate in India, the new Innova will get a sub 2.0-litre diesel engine which will get four cylinders and a turbocharger. Expect power to b over 100PS. Toyota might also launch a petrol engine variant of the new Innova Crysta
The Innova Crysta will go up against cars like the soon to be launched Tata Hexa and the Mahindra XUV500. The new Innova Crysta will be priced between Rs 14-19 lakh in India and will be available at dealerships soon.
