Maruti Suzuki Chairman R C Bhargava awarded Padma Bhushan

In addition to R C Bhargava, actor Anupam Kher, singer Udit Narayan, former CAG Vinod Rai, chairperson of media group Bennett, Coleman andamp; Co Indu Jain, sports star Sania Mirza and Saina Nehwal, spiritual leaders late Swami Dayanand Saraswati, Swami Tejomayananda and former US ambassador to India Robert Blackwill are among the 19 eminent people chosen for Padma Bhushan this year.

The 81-year old Ravindra Chandra Bhargava is a former civil servant who has held important positions including the Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Energy and Joint Secretary in Cabinet Secretariat, before joining Maruti in 1981. One of the key people behind the breathtaking success of the company in the country, Bhargava held the office of CEO at Maruti Suzuki before becoming the chairman in 2007.

Maruti Suzuki is poised to unveil a slew of new cars and concepts at the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi, including the Vitara Brezza, its much awaited compact SUV, Ignis, and a sportier version of the Baleno hatchback.
