A little over a month ago, BMW tuner extraordinaire G-Power presented a new engine upgrade for the BMW X5 M. It was noticeably missing the “Typhoon” moniker since it lacked any of the visual upgrades that the name comes from. Well, better late than never, right? Because the new Typhoon kit for the high-performance luxury SUV has arrived and it packs the same amount of power upgrades – 750 horsepower and 723 pound-feet of torque – as the the previous kit to go along with an extensive body kit.
The cosmetic upgrades are the big difference here and they make a ridiculous difference in both the X5 M’s stance and appearance. It also makes for a lighter SUV, which should pay dividends when the vehicle is blowing through the highways of the world. I’m holding off on calling it a visual upgrade because not everybody may find it appetizing to the eyes. But for those who appreciate a jacked-looking BMW X5 M with matching performance credentials, this new Typhoon kit is a feast for the senses.
Be prepared to spend, though, because G-Power’s programs don’t come cheap. That’s especially true for the Typhoon program because the wide body kit alone will cost you the equivalent of a hot hatchback
